Our daughter Bethany has spent most of her life suffering. In fact, she has endured so much more suffering than any human being should ever have to endure.
Bethany was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2000 when she was just two years old. During surgery to remove that very large, baseball sized tumor she suffered a brain injury and massive stroke. Ever since then she has also suffered with a debilitating and uncontrollable seizure disorder, horrific medication side effects, and aggressive outbursts. Bethany has also been diagnosed with developmental delays and autism.
We have tried every seizure medication and combinations thereof to no avail. Bethany did enjoy a brief respite from having daily debilitating tonic clonic seizures from 2012-2014 and we are grateful for that time. Sadly, she is now experiencing simple partial seizure clusters and they are interfering with her happiness and quality of life once again.
All we want is for Bethany to be happy and healthy.
We truly and honestly believe that medical marijuana is Bethany’s last hope for a happy, healthy life free from seizures.
All we want is for Bethany and all the other precious people that so desperately need it to have the opportunity to see if medical marijuana will help them.
The U.S. Congress is considering several important bills which would increase access to cannabis therapies. Just this week, the Therapeutic Hemp Medical Access Act, SB 1333, was introduced in the Senate. In the House of Representatives, 34 bipartisan members are currently co-sponsoring the companion Charlotte’s Web Medical Access Act, HR 1635. And yet, there are still legislators who are misinformed about their constituency and the therapeutic benefits of cannabis.
